Whirlpool has issued a recall of 1.7 million dishwashers in the U.S. due to potential fire hazards.  There have been 12 reported cases of overheating resulting in fires, but no injuries reported.  The fires are caused by a failure in the dishwasher’s electrical system.  The machines in question were sold from February 2006 to April 2010.
