E. Coli Scare Spreads to Beef Industry


Close to 5,200 pounds of beef products have been recalled because of the possibility that they may be contaminated with E. coli. The recall is intended for seven states the products were distributed to including Georgia, Iowa, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin. No illnesses have been reported from beef consumption.

An investment banker will receive $9.7 million after his ex-wife destroyed his career and reputation with a damaging letter sent to 200 people. The woman’s letter sent the banker’s career "into a nose-dive" when he found himself demoted and later, struggling to find a job. His ex-wife claimed she was only trying to protect herself.

Wells Fargo settles Class Action Suit

The Associated Press announced that a $12.8 million settlement will end a class action lawsuit against Wells Fargo Co. The suit was filed on behalf of 4,500 current and former Wells Fargo employees who alleged the company failed to pay them overtime. Plaintiffs will be entitled to monetary compensation pending court approval.

Tenants Ordered to Vacate Deteriorating Complex

Authorities ordered residents to evacuate a NY apartment building after receiving a complaint of leaking water and a large hole in a tenant’s wall. The building has already been cited for violations including a collapsing ceiling and a bathtub sinking through floorboards. Inspectors found that the reparation work exceeded what was allowed under building permits, particularly while tenants still resided inside.

Jury Award for Patent Who Was Neglected

A KY hospital was found negligent in their treatment of an IL woman who was admitted for a stroke. Hospital staff left the woman untreated for over three hours, according to the plaintiff’s attorney, causing her to suffer brain damage. The plaintiff was awarded $2.11 million in damages
