1 individual is dead after a crash involving semi-truck on I-25

One person is dead after a multi-car accident on southbound I-25 Tuesday night.

Colorado State Patrol reported that the accident happened at mile marker 189, just north of Castle Pines, at 8:23 p.m. Four vehicles were involved, including a semi truck.

According to the State Patrol, the semi was experiencing mechanical problems and the semi driver attempted to pull over to the left shoulder when an SUV behind the semi hit the truck’s trailer. The female driver was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene. Two additional cars became involved in the accident.

The State Patrol has not yet determined whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash or whether the driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt.

Fatal crash in Colorado Springs

An automobile crash has left one person dead Tuesday afternoon in northeast Colorado Springs.

The crash happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. today, 2.8.2011 and involved at least two vehicles.

Ambulance attendants on scene reported that one person died in the crash.

Initial data indicated that at least one person was thrown from a vehicle as it rolled near the intersection.

Police noted that northbound Union Boulevard has been closed at Academy Boulevard.

San Diego Ford Dealership to Pay Portion of $14 Million Settlement

Three sons of a couple who were killed in a 2006 auto accident have been awarded $14.5 million, and the San Diego car dealership who sold them the Ford E350 Sportsmobile van they were driving, will pay between $8.5 and $11 million of the settlement. According to the suit, the couple was driving in Arizona when a tire-tread separation caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and roll over. The plaintiff’s lawyers argued that Mossy Ford performed a defective tire repair instead of removing the tire from service.

Suit Filed over Death at Desert Race

The death of a spectator at a California 200 desert off-road race this past August has prompted a suit against the race promoter and driver involved in the accident. The suit claims the race promoter was negligent in allowing spectators to stand in dangerous areas. The accident, which occurred when one of the drivers lost control of his truck, killed eight people. The suit is seeking unspecified damages

Suit Filed over Fatal Wreck in Rhode Island

A Rhode Island man has filed a lawsuit over the death of his son in a car accident in May. The woman who caused the accident was a “drug-addicted habitual driving offender,” the lawsuit claims, and the state’s DMV should have taken her license away long before the accident. The woman had received 28 speeding tickets in the eight years prior to the accident, the suit says. The plaintiff is seeking unspecified damages.

Suit Settled in Fatal Rollover in Arkansas

A Salt Lake City family has settled a lawsuit with California-based U.S. Extradition Services over the death of their son in 2008. The man was being transported to prison in Arkansas when the van he was riding in rolled over because the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The details of the settlement were not disclosed due to a confidentiality agreement

Highway patrol officers have closed north bound I-25 do to a 40-car accident.

Update on 40 car pile up on I-25

State Hwy patrol reports that at least 10 people have been hospitalized as a result of this acciddent.

There is no information available on injuries and no word on the benefits, if any, by taking Hwy 83 instead of I-25.

Suit Filed over Fatal Wreck Involving Police Officer

A Utah family has filed a lawsuit against the state highway patrol over a fatal accident involving an officer and two of their family members. In March, two women were driving to a Relief Society meeting when they turned into the path of a police car en route to another accident. The officer’s car struck the women’s vehicle, killing them both. The trooper was put on administrative leave after the accident but has since returned to work.
