An investigation has raised concerns over whether the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is adequately addressing medical malpractice complaints. Despite over 50 lawsuits for medical malpractice, one Chicago ophthalmologist still maintains his medical license. This situation illustrates multiple issues within the department which have been previously reported by the Illinois Auditor General.
