Court Upholds Damages to Fired Pharmacist
Massachusetts’s highest court has upheld a $2 million jury award to a former Wal-Mart pharmacist who claimed she was fired for seeking equal pay. In a unanimous decision, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court held that there was sufficient evidence for a jury to conclude that Wal-Mart acted with ‘discriminatory animus’ in firing the worker. Half of the original $2 million award had been revoked by the trial judge.
