Hospital Negligent in Death of Ex-Football Player, Suit Claims
The June 2008 death of a former Pittsburgh Steelers player has prompted a lawsuit by his family against a local hospital and its doctors, claiming that negligence and miscommunication lead to his death at the age of 58. The lawsuit states that Dwight White was rushed to the emergency room at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital a few days after he had undergone routine back surgery at the same hospital. He was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and died a few weeks later. The lawsuit claims that â??doctors and UPMC Presbyterian Hospital missed numerous opportunities to save his life.â?
