Hospital Retaliated Against Doctor, Jury Finds
A federal jury has awarded $3.1 million to a doctor who claims she was fired by the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute because she complained about the treatment of female colleagues. According to the lawsuit, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center affiliate retaliated against Dr. Kristina Gerszten when she raised questions about female doctors being passed over for promotions and prestigious positions. The judge in the case is will likely reduce the size of the award, an attorney said.
