A Mississippi family was awarded $4.7 million by a Hinds County jury over the near-drowning of their two children in a local hotel swimming pool. The lawsuit accused workers at the Jackson La Quinta Inn of failing to lock the pool gate after hours and that the children, who both suffer learning disabilities, wandered in and fell into the water. The jury deemed the hotel 85 percent responsible and the parents 15 percent responsible
