Lawsuit: Rehab Center Abandoned Patient
An Iowa nursing home abandoned a brain damaged patient at a local hospital and refused to resume care once the patient was treated, a lawsuit filed by the hospital claims. The lawsuit states that Broadlawns Medical Center informed the patient’s family a week after he arrived that he was ready to return to the Granger Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, but that they refused to take him back, which they say violates state and federal laws. The lawsuit seeks $76,000 in reimbursement costs as well as punitive damages.
