A Washington State man has been awarded $5.8 million in a lawsuit he filed against another man who shot him four times in 2008. The Plaintiff claimed in his lawsuit that the defendant shot him during an altercation between the two, but the defendant stated at his trial he was merely acting in self defense. As a result of the gunshot wounds, the plaintiff required 14 surgeries and has millions of dollars in medical bills. The defendant is currently serving nine months in prison for second-degree assault
