California regulators have resumed investigations into a controversial pesticide that has been linked to cancer and other health problems, the Los Angeles Times reports. The California Department of Pesticide Regulation had suspended its peer review of the fumigant methyl iodide amid state budget shortfalls. Animal testing has shown the chemical to cause miscarriages, cognitive impairment and thyroid toxicity.
