King County, Wash., resident Rochelle Ogershok received a $7 million settlement from the county after she was struck by a Metro van while on her way to work in November 2007. According to the lawsuit, the driver of the van failed to yield the right-of-way to Ogershok at an intersection and broadsided her scooter. The accident left Ogershok with internal injuries and compound fractures in her leg. She was also in a coma for several days, according to the Seattle Times.
