Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed in Police Shooting
The city of Everett, Wash., was negligent in the death of a 51-year-old man who was shot by a police officer outside a local restaurant in June, a lawsuit filed by family members claims. According to the lawsuit, Niles Meservey was leaving the restaurant in his car, apparently drunk, when he was surrounded by police, blocking him from driving. The lawsuit states that Meservey was tased by an officer, causing his car to lurch forward. When the car moved, Officer Troy Meade allegedly shot Meservey multiple times.
